The last 16 of December all the PKU and AD families from the Basque Country met to say farewell to this year.
Once all the children, teenagers, parents and other family members were accommodated we began the celebration with the arrival of Olentzero in the company of the txistulari and dambolinera Joana, Irati’s sister playing songs of Olentzero.
Olentzero took his seat and proceeded to hand out his gifts, as usual, he began with the children. The children were amazed of Olentzero’s presence and of the gifts they were receiving from him. Everyone, young adults and teenagers received a bag full of gifts.
We also took the opportunity to deliver diplomas and multi-medi albums to the members of the 2007 family break program and present the new monitors incorporated for next year due to the casualties of Estíbaliz and Javier due to work issues and Mike who is moving to Seville to begin a new cicle in his life.
After handing ou these gifts Olentzero left us followed by Joana playing again the tunes with a great round of applauses by the attendees, mostly the children in the first rows. (D).
Then we raffled some gifts and Christmas hampers that are so successfull among family members, some filled with home-growned vegetables, foods carefully prepared for PKU-ADs. and other typical Christmas food.
We finished the party by having an afternoon snack. Each family did a great job preparing wonderful special dishes for the children and normal ones for the parents. And after three hours of joy, we wished each other a merry Christmas and closed the party.
From the association we wish to thank all the families who have helped either by donating products for the hampers, gifts for the draw as for the preparation of the local .
We do not want to forget our loyal collaborators who every year send us gifts to hand out during this celebration.
